Hope is mentioned 180 times in the Bible
Hope is a precursor to faith: While faith is believing and trusting in something that you cannot see, hope is imagining that there is something there to even believe and trust in. It is the belief in what could be.
Erwin McManus, in his book Soul Cravings states: “…hope is essential for our souls to thrive.” and “If you don’t believe you have a future worth living for, your spirit loses all hope. Your soul was not designed to live without hope. In fact, when we lose all hope, we lose all desire to live.”
“You answer us with awesome and righteous deed, God our Savior, the HOPE of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” —Psalm 65:5-8
“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” -Thich Naht Hanh (Vietnemese Monk)
Hope is knowing and strongly believing that though one is in a desperate situation, things will improve.
"For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." -Romans 8:24-25
